Equipment

  • Instant Pot

Ingredients
 

  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
  • 4-6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 2-5 green chilis, sliced lengthwise
  • ½ cup yellow mung (moong) dal
  • ¼ cup urad dal
  • ¼ cup chana dal
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 5 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala

Instructions

  • Set Instant Pot to 'Saute' mode.
  • Add avocado oil, garlic, ginger, and green chilis.
  • Wash all three dals (lentils) and add to Instant Pot.
  • Add water, salt and turmeric and mix well.
  • Close the lid on the IP. Press 'Cancel' and then 'Bean/Chili' mode and set timer to 15 minutes.
  • Move valve to 'Sealing position'.
  • Once timer beeps, Naturally Release. Sprinkle garam masala for light spice flavor.

Notes

  1.  Feel free to play around with different types of dal.  However, make sure you keep the proportion of urad dal similar to above to maintain consistency.
