After an entire summer vacation of being overindulgent with our food and extra liberal with our drinks, my sister-in-law, brother-in-law and I decided that the only way to get back on a healthy track was to commit to a two month challenge. Two months of adhering to a strict diet of whole, clean foods. Two months of cutting out sugar and dairy (with the exception of greek yogurt). Two months of avoiding processed foods. And, as much as it hurts to say, two whole months of refraining from any alcohol. There. It’s out. Written and official. So here goes. Wine and cheese, I’m sad to say, we’re officially on a break. It’s not you. It’s me. I will definitely visit with you once my challenge is over, but I may not be as committed to you as I will be to my clean lifestyle after the two months are up.
The plan that I have outlined for myself includes soups, salads, beans, lentils, eggs and lots and lots o’ veggies! Needless to say, I am now on the hunt for delicious and flavorful clean recipes. I found a great one in my version of my mother-in-law’s tomato soup, so light yet packed with nutrition from the tomatoes, red bell peppers, mint and limbdo (curry leaves).
